Lots of people with a learning disability want a job, just like anyone else. Having a job lets you earn money so that you can have more choice and control over your life. You can make new friends too.
To get a job you will probably need some training. We have written a plan to make sure that people with learning disabilities have a better chance of getting a job and the training they need.
There are people who can help you to find a job or training. Click on the links below to find out more.
On 24 June 2009 the Government said it wants lots more people with learning disabilities to have real jobs.
They want the jobs to be at least 16 hours per week
They have written a plan to make that happen.
The plan is called ‘Valuing Employment Now - real jobs for people with learning disabilities'.

Medway has its own Sports Directory which lists all Medway sports clubs and gives the name of a person in each sports club that people can contact with any individual enquries linked to disability and the sports club.

The White Paper “Valuing People” Says:
"Access to transport is essential to enable people with learning disabilities to lead full and purposeful lives. However, they currently face many obstacles using public or private transport. Transport staff and operators may not understand their needs and people may lack the necessary support and training to become independent travellers"
