What does the Medway Learning Disability Partnership Board do?
The Medway Learning Disability Partnership Board's role is to check that the Government's plans called 'Valuing People Now' (2009) and 'Valuing People' (2001) happen in Medway.
Valuing People Now (209) and Valuing People (2001) are the names of the Government's plans specifically for adults with a learning disability.
The Valuing People Now (2009) plans are an update on the Government's Valuing People (2001) White Paper.
The BIG messages in Valuing People and Valuing People Now are:
- People with learning disabilities should have the same rights and choices as everyone else.
- People with learning disabilities have the right to be treated with dignity and respect.
- People with learning disabilities should have the same chances and responsibilities as everyone else.
- Family carers and families of people with learning disabilities have the right to the same hopes and choices as other families.
